Hello and Good morning, It is the weekend yet I woke up very early today, it is my first weekend ever to wake up early and not sleep in. I forgot how morning can actually feel nice, the sunshine through the window, reading a book at 9 with a cup of tea, I missed all of this. I feel so energized and alive, so I decided to open my laptop and write a post about something I learned LOL.
I hated irregulars in English and am hating them too in Korean, oh well, here we go.
Example:
1. 가깝다: 가깝 + 어요/아요 = 가까우 + 어요* = 가까워요 (우+어=워)
*okay, as you might know that vowels when met in verb/adjective they contract, er, or something.
(우+ 어=워) is one of the contractions that occur frequently. Some of you might go like, hang on, 가깝 ends with ㅏ, so it should take 아요 not 어, and you are correct, BUT, in this case we have 우, a dark vowel*i dont know what this means, am just memorizing when to change buddies*, and you cant not combine it with a bright vowel 아, therefore you use, 어요 instead of 아요. still easy, no!
Another example:
2. 어렵다: 어렵 + 어요 = 어려우 + 어요 = 어려워요.
3. 춥다: 춥 + 어요 = 추 + 우 + 어요 = 추워요.
4. 돕다: 돕 + 아요 = 도+우+아요= 도와요, remember cuz 오 + 아 = 와
I hope you understood this lesson, am still confused myself, so I welcome any kind of input. Remember, You can do it.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
its been a long time!
Anyway since we have two weeks off I had time to revise and continue studying Korean. I am still using Integrated Korean Klear TextBooks, however am frustrated cuz There isnt an answer sheet, so if I want to revise my answer there is no way.
Currently am done with lesson 5, gna start lesson 6 now.
